In 2004, John Duthie – a talented poker pro – took advantage of the recent poker boom by founding the European Poker Tour. His new event was built to compete with the WPT, except buy-ins were lower, giving more players an opportunity to compete in popular poker events.

The first EPT season began in Barcelona, Spain in September 2004. The start of season 11 marks the 100th event in EPT history. So what better place to celebrate the 100th event than right back where it all began – Barcelona? The Pokerstars EPT Barcelona webcast will take place at the gorgeous Casino Barcelona.

Watch Drama Unfold in the EPT Barcelona Webcast

Beyond the large sums of money at stake, there are some exciting story lines to watch for on our free EPT11 Barcelona webcast. There is quite a battle between the United States and United Kingdom for most career EPT winners. UK has 16 winners, while the USA has 14 winners, proving this isn’t just an event for European poker players. Country pride is at stake. Can the USA close the gap and prove they have the best players in the world? Or will the United Kingdom again show the rest of the world why they believe the best poker is played in the UK?

But, like any other major poker series, all eyes will be on the Main Event. EPT Barcelona has a history of exciting Main Event final tables. Season 10 Main Event champion, Tom Middleton, claimed the €942,000 first place prize. Middleton will be out to defend his title, but it won’t be easy. More than 1,200 players are expected to compete in the EPT Barcelona Main Event starting on August 22.

The EPT Barcelona webcast is going to be exciting. We’ll have updates on the series from August 19-27, along with a free webcast that includes live action of the Super High Roller tournament (August 19-20), Estrellas Barcelona (August 21) and the EPT Barcelona Main Event (August 22-27).
