There truly no one hotter than Phil Galfond.

Obviously, we’re not referring to the recently-turned Canadian citizen’s attractiveness. While Phil Galfond himself would likely avoid that subject, the heater that the 26-year-old poker pro encountered over the weekend has made his excursion up north extremely rewarding.

Galfond, who plays under the alias “MrSweets28″ on PokerStars, spent nearly his entire weekend dismantling the uncanny Viktor “Isildur1″ Blom, who has also been particularly active online. However, Isildur1′s wild success over the past few weeks came to screeching hault, and during his experience with Galfond he cooled off considerably to lose over $452K to the Bluefire Poker coach.

As Blom commented just a few months back, Galfond’s return to the world of high-stakes online play was considered a blow to the share of profits that was being distributed amongst the elite regulars. Blom, however, being included in that bunch, decided that testing his run-good and taking on the Omaha specialist during one of his most remarkable months couldn’t be that bad of a proposition.

He found out quickly that he was wrong.

Blom spent an unfathomable 7,500+ hands on PokerStars, playing the likes of Jeans89 and socutiesf initially to soar to massive profits before playing Galfond. Finishing these contests up nearly $600,000, Blom would appear to be unstoppable in his thirst for action. Nonetheless, the upswing didn’t continue forever, and Blom quickly lost a substantial portion of those winnings back to the regulars of 1-ronnyr3 and Zypherin.

Galfond, likely sensing weakness and fragility after those battles, stepped in immediately to begin one of his most epic Omaha sessions of the year.

During heads-up $100/$200 PLO, Galfond took Blom to the cleaners, winning multiple pots on the river after Blom had previously turned him. Once for $103K and the largest for $189K, Galfond truly could do no wrong against the action-driven Isildur1.

Despite it being likely that Galfond was rusty after his absence from the high-stakes games in spite of Black Friday, Galfond has returned thus far with a vengeance. Since coming back to the games in mid-summer, he’s accumulated over $1 million in cash-game profits, most of that coming exclusively from PLO. Widely considered a top 5 PLO player, Galfond’s latest victory and most recent online results should conclude that Galfond remains in the upper echelon of the game’s elite.

Blom, having once peaked at over $550K, not only eliminated his days profits, but also dipped into several hundred thousand-dollars of his own bankroll. Ending down nearly $134,000, over the course of two days, Blom burned through an unthinkable $684,000.

Isildur1 may be in need of another PokerStars challenge soon, where he seems to fare much better.

The aforementioned players were the most popular over the weekend, but there’s a few names we haven’t mentioned thus far that are deserving of praise.

Andreas “skjervoy” Torbergsen (+$200K), Zypherin (+$140K), refaelamit (+$116K+) and Kanu7 (+$91K) all benefited from their play during the weekend with good results.

Theo Jorgensen, known in the online world as “Theo J,” dropped most of his losses to Isildur1 and ended as the player with the most to lose at -$144K in donations. Despite being down for the weekend however, Jorgensen remains profitable for the year with over $212,000 in earnings.

Isildur1′s other primary victim, socutiesf, finished in the red as well down -$128K.
