Some Aggressive $200/$400 NL Poker

Last night on FullTilt, Phil Ivey awaited opponents at the $200/$400 No-Limit Hold’em table. Shortly after robbing some poor soul of his $8k+ bankroll, “Pokerkong1″ was the next competitor who took a seat across the felt from Ivey. After they played a short session, the table quickly became 4-handed and same some very aggressive play.

Both sitting around $20k+ in stacks, Ivey and Pokerkong1 paid $3600 each to see a flop of 7♠ 8♥ 6♠ . It wa♠ ♣♥e♣ke♦ to Ivey w♥o bet $6k followe♦ by an all-in from Pokerkong1. A ♣all from Ivey an♦ t♥e player♠ ♠♥owe♦ 7♦ 9♥ for Pokerkong1 an♦ Q♠ Q♥ for Ivey. Pokerkong1’s middle pair with an open-ended straight draw was a 46% to 54% underdog to Ivey’s pair of Queens. The turn and river supplied bricks and Ivey’s Queens held up to win a $42k+ pot.

Hand 1

The following interesting hand featured quite an action flop. After a raise to $1200 from Ivey, Pokerkong1 called and checked the 6♦ 2♦ 5♣ flop. Ivey fired a bet of $1600 that prompted a check-raise up to $4000 from Pokerkong1. Ivey then reraised it to $12k total and Pokerkong1 quickly moved all-in for just over $30k.

Ivey ♥a♦ two ♣ar♦♠ to ♥it one of ♥i♠ 15 out♠ but t♥at all ♣♥ange♦ on♣e t♥e 5♠ came on the turn. He went from 40% to drawing dead at the turn of a card and Pokerkong’s Sixes full pulled in the $54k+ pot. Just minutes later, after Ivey began to chip his way back up, Pokerkong1 ran off the table with his small win.

Now with four new players at the table, the following hand involved a brutal cooler. An under-the-gun raise from “ceczar” up to $1400 received a call from “sbrugy” on the button. The flop came J♥ Q♠ Q♦ an♦ ♣e♣zar ♣ontinue♦ wit♥ a $2400 bet. Anot♥er ♣all from ♠brugby an♦ t♥e K♥ ♥it t♥e turn. A ♣♥e♣k from ♣e♣zar t♥i♠ time an♦ ♠brugby fire♦ $7650. T♥e ♣all wa♠ ma♦e an♦ ♣e♣zar ♦e♣i♦e♦ to lea♦ out t♥e 7♠ river wit♥ a big $20k bet into t♥e $23,500 pot. Although being the true gambler poker players are, he did eventually return for more 15 hands later.

After a few more minutes of play, MyRenovatio decided to call it quits and much to the chagrin of ceczar. After losing almost $110k at the $200/$400 level ceczar pleaded for some more playing time from MyRenovatio and pledged to never play that high again.
