Ivey Donates $80k to “sbrugby”
November 30, 2006
Shortly after booking a huge win against Brian “sbrugby” Townsend, Phil Ivey decided to come back for a few hands of $300/$600 NL Hold’em. 18 hands to be exact before he dropped his $60k stake to sbrugby. Shortly thereafter, another $20k was shipped over to sbrugby before the game broke.
On the last of the 18 hands during Ivey’s first sporadic session, this hand came up where he decided to push all-in on the river with his pair of Nines. Holding the nuts, sbrugby made the call and took down the pot worth nearly $107k and accepted Ivey’s $60k donation.

Ivey came back to play a bit more serious, and tried a move on this next featured hand. With a gutshot straight draw and a club flush draw, Ivey raised sbrugby’s $7850 turn bet up to $23,400 total. With a made straight, sbrugby moved all-in and a $70k pot quickly developed. One of Ivey’s 11 outs did not hit the river and sbrugby soon found himself up over $80k on his opponent. A few more hands were played for a total of 30 hands in this quick session before sbrugby decided to call it a day.
