Chris Bjorin is one of the enigmas of the poker world and very little is actually known about him. Born in Sweden, the quietly spoken man now calls London in the UK home and has had many successes on the poker table. However, he has stayed under the radar by shunning the limelight, refusing to play in televised games for the most part, and lets the poker speak for itself. Despite this, he is a regular on the UK poker circuit.
It is believed that Bjorin began playing poker in the 1990s, and by the mid 1990’s, he was a regular on the World Series of Poker tour, finishing in the money for the very first time in the 1992 No Limit Holdem Main Event. He went on to finish in the money in the same event a further twice, in 1997 and 2001. He won his two WSOP bracelets during the very same years. His first as in the $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha event in 1997, and the second came in the 2001 $3,000 No Limit Holdem event.
Bjorin’s major successes have undoubtedly come in the WSOP, although he has yet to experience the same level of success in the World Poker Tour. He has yet to make a final table. Despite that, he has made over $3 million in prize money, which is amazing considering many poker fans have not even heard of him.
Bjorin has certainly gone from strength the strength since the turn of the millennium. He competed in the 2002 Hall of Fame Poker Classic, for example, as one of the top 54 players in the world. The year in general was great for Bjorin, with three wins and a place in history as the only non-American player to make the top twenty list.
It is known that Bjorin has a son, Elon, who is also interested in poker and that he earns his money by in some way being connected to sports betting. However, the rest of Bjorin’s life is exceptionally private, and he likes it that way!
