Chip Jett is one of the most popular professional poker players currently playing on the tables of Las Vegas. Originally making a living as a casino poker dealer in his native Arizona, Jett eventually realised that he could make money from both sides of the table. Married to fellow professional poker player Karina Jett, the two live a very active life on the poker circuit.

Jett did not take to poker at an early age. Instead he dreamed of being a lifeguard until the age of eighteen. It was at that age that he discovered poker at his local casino. One hand and he was hooked for life. As soon as he graduated high school, Jett looked to get a job in a casino and found one in the Fort McDowell Casino. He began as floor man, but his enthusiasm for the job and the game in general ensured that he quickly became a shift manager, and then a proposition player. He remained there for six years and was effectively a professional poker player from the age of 21.

It took Jett until 2001 to gain notoriety on the poker circuit, and it was at the LA Poker Classic he achieved it. Jett was truly amazing during the tournament, making final tables at HORSE, Sever-Card Stud, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven Card Stud and No Limit Hold’Em. As a result, Jett was chosen as the best all-round player. Final tables followed for the rest of the year and he finally won his first major tournament in 2002. The Foxwoods was the venue and Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo and No Limit Hold’Em were the games. Since then, Jett’s career has rocketed.

Jett took a $175,000 pot twice within a year, placing 2nd in the PartyPoker.com Million both times, and then won the California State Championship Main Event. He has become renowned for knocking big names out of tournament and has had a great success rate in the World Series of Poker ever since, making two WSOP finals in 2003 alone. Jett also took 3rd in the 2005 WSOP $5,000 Seven Card Stud event. He puts a lot of his success down to the fact that he is willing to take risks and will not back down when faced with a challenge. This has served him well over the last few years, but has also caused his downfall in a few tournaments.

The most memorable moment of Jett’s career so far was brought about by the personal circumstances involved. He faced wife Karina in the London Open event at Old Billingsgate Market in August 2005. The husband and wife poker stars have been successful as a team as well, writing for several publications, and why not? If you’ve got it, flaunt it!
