Berry Johnston is one of the true legends of the poker circuit and has been for many years now. In fact, most of the greatest poker players in action at the moment were not even born when Berry played his first tournament.  Heck, most of the players Berry plays with on Full Tilt weren’t even born when he took down the 1986 Main Event.

Now into his seventies, Johnston’s list of accomplishments is truly astounding. He began playing poker professionally in the 1970’s and moved to Las Vegas in the 1980’s. He achieved immediate success as he managed to finish third in the 1982 World Series of Poker Main Event.  The following year he claimed the first of five career WSOP bracelets, this one in a $2,500 Match Play event, and repeated as third-place finisher in the Main Event.

The 1986 Main Event would be Johnston’s second career bracelet.  He would remain prominent through the 1990’s, with wins in ’90 and ’95, for Limit Hold’em and Limit Omaha, respectively.  Johnston won his fifth WSOP bracelet in 2001.  Not many can claim they took home  a WSOP win in each of the last three decades!

Johnston has cashed ten times in the WSOP Main Event, which is a record, and has sat in on more than thirty final tables.  Johnston was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 2004 and is on his way to $4 Million  in career earnings.
