Allan Cunningham is one of the more recognisable faces in poker at the moment, owing to the length of service that he has had at the table. He has now been a professional poker player for 12 years after starting to play at the age of 18. He initially frequented the Indian casinos in his local area but soon moved on to online and offline major tournaments. He currently plays poker online at Full Tilt Poker.
Cunningham’s mind is suited to playing poker. He studied at UCLA for a while in his teens and civil engineering was his major of choice until dropping out to play poker on a professional basis. The accolade he has earned since just served to prove that he made the right decision.
Cunningham is an integral part of Team Full Tilt and has been since October 2006. He was also sponsored by Full Tilt until 2006 and won some massive tournaments and titles under their watchful eye. In terms of accolades, Cunningham won his seventh WSOP bracelet in 2007 and had been named ESPN/Toyota Player of the Year in 2005. He almost reclaimed the title in 2006 but narrowly lost out. The latter awards just go to show how highly respected he is by his fellow professional and within the world of poker in general.
Cunningham is only one of a handful of players that has won a WSOP bracelet in three consecutive years after winning in 2005, 2006 and 2007. His biggest payout was during the 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event. He placed fourth and received $3,628,513 as a reward. That represents over a third of his total winnings so far, the total of which stands at almost $9 million. With Cunningham’s ability and with age on his side, he looks set to continue along his road to success for the foreseeable future.
