Password Scams On Full Tilt Poker
February 15, 2007
There have been several reports of individuals using the Full Tilt chat box as a means of deceptively acquiring valuable account information from online poker players. The scam in question involved scammers manipulating the text in the chat box to make it appear as though Full Tilt was awarding cash prizes for certain lucky players.
For example:
Pokerplayer1972 (Observer):
========================================
Dealer: FullTilt Poker giveaway $50,000. The first
two players from this table who visit the website
www.sign-fulltiltpoker.com will be awarded with
$25,000 . Admin : Chris Ferguson
The text above is just an observer’s comments but would misleadingly appear in the Full Tilt chat box as follows:
The site to which the above alleged promotion links to would then ask for important account information in order to claim one’s cash prize. These events have sparked up debates regarding Full Tilt’s responsibility in preventing such fraudulent activities.
Clearly stated, it should be and is well known that Full Tilt announcements only appear in red text and Full Tilt representatives only chat in green text. And in addition, Full Tilt would never ask for your account password other than to log into the Full Tilt Poker Software or the Full Tilt Poker Forum.
