Despite still remaining as an elite player in the long history of online poker, the high-stakes guru Brian Townsend has recently regathered his reputation and bankroll and has mingled amongst the regular pros in the games on PokerStars winning $100K.

It’s been awhile since we’ve heard from Townsend, as his aliases of “sbrugby” on Full Tilt Poker and “aba20″ on PokerStars have been inactive for a long stretch of time. While his departure from Full Tilt Poker was obviously due to the site’s inability to remain operable and his extensive history with careless actions, not moving out of the country and joining the nosebleed games on PokerStars right away may have been viewed as a surprising curve ball to the already elusive career of Brian Townsend.

Losing his label as a Cardrunners instructor, and also being charged as the primary culprit of the collusion in the destruction of Isildur1 in 2009, Townsend likely needed a little downtime to let things blow over and also regain his confidence and rapport with poker’s top-class.

On a small scale, Townsend has done this by returning to his 2009 form winning over $100,000 in one of his most recent online cash game sessions.

Despite being well-versed in a variety of poker genres, it was Pot-Limit Omaha where Townsend did his damage. The players of Lrslzk, saphire1, moirhums and terryhsu were all involved in the $50/$100 six-max game in which Townsend collected his six-figure victory.

In August, Townsend began making small appearances, but they didn’t go very well as he ended his month down $158K. But Townsend’s most recent attempts have been lucrative, and he’s climbed well out of the red as he now has $112K to show for his new and improved attitude in 2011.

In order for him to display the gorgeous statistics from 2009 on his end of the year report, Townsend will likely need to grind for hours at some of the biggest games.

Winning $2.4 million in 2009, it would take quite the “run-good” for him to end his year on that high of a note.

During Townsend’s latest score, there were a few other players who joined him in the winner’s circle. Ta-Chih “socutiesf” Geeng has been on a roll, and he improved his win total to over $700K by adding $117K to his bankroll over his sessions.

Gavin “gavz101″ Cochrane, who’s been a beast in the high-stakes PLO games, also added $58k to his already impressive $1 million sum for earnings in 2011.

There were a variety of unknown players who were in the losing category too. LiangYu, GARFIELD25, Terken89 and insyder19 lost -$120K, -$111K, -$103K and -$73K respectively.

We’ll remain immersed in the comeback of Brian Townsend, and will always bring more updates in response to the online games.
