Recently over the past few months, several big name poker players have re-emerged in the online scene to once again capture their fair share of the market. Players such as Brian Hastings, Phil Galfond and Daniel Negreanu have led this list. However, occasionally, new names do appear amongst the collection of talented veterans. Welcome !P0krparty¡.
Unknown player !P0krparty¡ became a force to be reckoned with towards the end of September, making a big splash with a $400K+ victory in the online Pot-Limit Omaha games, taking on the likes of established specialists Rafi Amit and Ben “Sauce123″ Sulsky.
In fact, since coming out of the woodworks in mid-July, the mysterious player has ended several of his sessions in the black, despite having a total for the year that has recently dipped in the red to the tune of $53K.
But the biggest question remains: Who is !P0krparty¡?
The amount of speculation has been surreal, both through online forums such as TwoplusTwo and through general convictions. But the consensus seems to be that the fearsome online entity may in fact be the volatile XWINK, who could be making a vengeful reappearance due to his sudden departure. The other name that has been brought up is martonas, another mystical Swedish player who has won and lost millions of dollars through online poker.
Both players seem to have the aptitude to match !P0krparty¡’s playing style and intuitive thought process, which is why the pair of players have been so closely correlated with the enigmatic poker handle.
But despite increased levels of activity over the course of a few months, lately !P0krparty¡ has been content with laying low key, letting the rest of his competition devour one another.
The aforementioned Brian Hastings has had the most success recently, winning over $100K in the online games last night through a variety of PLO genres. It was essentially a combination of $50/$100 Heads-Up and $200/$400 6-max that kept “$tinger88″ occupied, and it was rare for Hastings to find obstruction on his way to a six-figure score.
$125,000 was the end of the night total for Hastings, and he’s been lucky enough to see his financial spreadsheet read $619,000 in the black since the beginning of 2011. After returning to PokerStars once he settled in Vancouver, B.C., Hastings has won nearly $500K.
Surprisingly so, there were a few high-stakes No-Limit Hold’em games running on PokerStars, with players such as Phil “takechip” D’Auteil, Asprin1, socutiesf and Kanu7 taking part in the action.
Kanu7 was the primary victor in these games, taking over $80K from his competitors in this environment.
Not far behind was socutiesf, who’s been a regular in the high-stakes games on PokerStars since June. He managed to secure a win of nearly $80K as well.
socutiesf has had a very good year, being one of the leading earners with just under $1.2 million.
Players who were not so lucky included Rui “PepperoniF” Cao, who seemed to be the “catch of the day” for players fishing in the $200/$400 PLO six-max game. Despite his undeniable talent, Cao just couldn’t get anything going and lost a total of $111K for the night.
He likely won’t be looking back though, as his yearly total is still well over $1 million.
Gavin “gavz101″ Cochrane also had a dismal evening, losing $105K in a series of NLHE and PLO games.
VietRussian (-$72K), insyder19 (-$57K) and takechip (-$33K) round out the list of players over the past 24 hours that will be looking to forget their recent sessions.
Stay tuned for more updates on the high-stakes action that is occurring on PokerStars.
