Make poker prop bets on Bodog!

Enjoy prop betting? Well the great odds-makers at Bodog have assembled a team of mathematical geniuses and statistical algorithms to proportionally calculate the odds for each and every member of the field of 64. Now, you’ll be able to place a bet on any player, in one of the most sought after prize events in the history of poker awards!

The NBC Heads-Up Poker Championship, stationed at Caesar’s Palace on March 4th through the 6th, will feature the biggest names in poker. A large field of 64 players, which involves mostly professionals but also many celebrities, includes Daniel “jungleman12″ Cates, Tom “durrrr” Dwan, Phil Ivey, Jason Alexander, Don Cheadle and Jennifer Tilly.

While Bodog currently has the best odds awarded to none other than the widely-regarded best overall player in the world Phil Ivey, what’s interesting to note is that there was very little respect given to the previous 2010 NBC Heads-Up Championship winner, Annie Duke. Although poker still remains a largely male-dominated sport, there’s no women to be found within the top 30 players in terms of odds. Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree, who had a fantastic 2010, is actually leading the charge for female superiority at this event with odds of 40/1. Vanessa Rousso, who’s also a Team PokerStars Pro and finished runner-up to Huck Seed in 2009, was also given 40/1 odds along with Duke.

As we’ve seen in the past nonetheless, several unfamiliar faces or big-name celebrities outside of the poker table have fared well in this event. Similar in some respects to the insanity that is NCAA March Madness, the NBCHU Championship often brings an acute level of uncertainty when it comes to the competition. Several players who might not be household names, but can certainly make an impact include Vanessa Selbst, Thomas Marchese, and Don Cheadle. While the first two players may not ring a bell, they’re both professionals who have a plethora of poker experience and knowledge of heads-up strategy. And although Don Cheadleisn’t considered a poker pro, the self-made actor and Ocean’s Eleven star has spent countless hours in casinos both on, and off set.

Although in previous years the prize for the winner has been a cool half-million dollars, with the inclusion of several big names and more potential intriguing matchups than ever before the buy-in for the event was increased to $25,000. This year, the last-man-standing in this event will receive a $750,000 first place prize, along with the title of the NBC National Heads-Up Champion.

Although the actual seeding chart of who will be playing who will not be released until the night before the event, there are still several “last longer” prop bets that can be made for the field. Recent rivalries such as Annie Duke vs. Daniel Negreanu, and Sorel Mizzi vs. John Racener should definitely stir up interest. Make sure to visit Bodog.com to view each of these lines, and you may do so by going directly to the “Sportsbook” tab, and under “Betting Lines” selecting “poker” to find the appropriate bets.

Television coverage for this event is scheduled for April 17th, 2011, and will be shown Sundays on NBC.

Good luck, and happy prop betting!
