Amit Leads Online Earners Over the Weekend, Grabs $347K

Although many have probably seen the alias of “refaelamit” playing in some of the biggest games available online over on PokerStars, very few probably have an actual perspective on who’s really behind that screen name. Rafi Amit, who seldom goes by Refael, is an incredibly intellectual and talented poker player who regularly plays in some of the biggest live cash games around. On top of that, the relatively unknown player owns a World Series of Poker bracelet in the 2005 $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha event. So much for being anonymous.

Last night over on PokerStars, Amit began his 2011 by earning the top spot on the weekend’s profit list by garnering $347K from his opponents. Pot-Limit Omaha clearly being one of Amit’s strong suits, he continued playing his most successful game for over six staggered hours and gathered 2194 hands in the process. All completed at $100/$200 PLO, Amit won across nearly every table he decided to play.

Although he’s also accustomed to winning this much in likely just a few hands in “Bobby’s Room,” (which Amit also regularly plays in) we’re sure he’ll take the six-figure win in stride.

Full Tilt Poker was also busy raking in cash from its high-stakes games yesterday evening. Back at it for the second time this week was Patrik Antonius and Scott “URnotINdanger2″ Palmer, and Antonius won all of his money back plus some in a nice $226,655 victory over URnotINdanger2. Although Antonius certainly doesn’t play as much online Hold’em as he used to in the past, his instincts haven’t seemed to deteriorate because of his inactivity. In fact, throughout the $500/$1000 Mixed HA battle which lasted several hours, Antonius only managed to lose a scant $21 dollars at one of the four tables the players were competing on. Practice doesn’t always pay off; sometimes your opponents will just do that for you.

Unknown players OneUponAStar (+$80K), and Full Tilt pro Markus Golser (+$41K) were also a few of the highest earners on the site.

Usually when most of the top professionals in poker are searching for a game, they actively look in pursuit of “fish.” On other occasions, when there aren’t any new fish to be caught, players look to just cook one of their own. The “catch of the day” honors certainly went to Jared “harrington10″ Bleznick, as he managed to end his night down $216K. Despite playing on both Stars and Full Tilt, he couldn’t ignite a fire and instead, his peers burned him. Over 2000 hands between both venues just wasn’t enough for him to turn it around.

Bleznick has been regularly playing uncapped Pot-Limit Omaha, and although he’s probably more adept at the mathematical capped version, he’s produced some pretty good results. Yesterday evening however, not even he could compute how bad his sessions would end up.

Palmer (-$226K) and Bleznick (-$216K) finished the night with the largest deficits. Unknown players urapigeon (-$80K), Zypherin (-$50K) and ChanceCU (-$36K) also ended their sessions in the hole.

You can catch the action live by downloading either the PokerStars or Full Tilt Poker client, or follow High Stakes Report on Facebook to continuously receive updates on the nosebleed cash game results.
