Ultimate Bet announced a big signing to Team UB this week.
Just a week after faces of UB Phil Hellmuth and Annie Duke made their splits with the poker site, Prahlad Friedman has been brought in to help anchor the team.
Friedman, who can usually be found playing nosebleed cash games online, has both a World Series of Poker bracelet and World Poker Tour title on his resume. Now he’ll have a UB logo on his chest.
The WSOP gold came back in a $1,500 Pot Limit Hold’em event in 2003, while the WPT title came in the August 2009 Legends of Poker, good for a $1,000,900 payday. Add in there a 20th-place finish in the 2006 WSOP Main Event for $494,797 and the California pro has $2.5 million in career earnings.
“There was the old UB,” said Friedman in a UB welcome video. “This is the new UB and I’m here to shake things up.”
Rumors of Friedman joining UB surfaced right about the same time of the Hellmuth and Duke departures. The duo left Team UB with more than 20 years of combined service with the company, while Friedman will join Joe Sebok, Adam Levy, Eric Baldwin and Maria Ho will help to move the site in a new direction.
