With Day 1A of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event kicking off, you’d think all the media attention wouldn’t be on just one player.
But that’s what happened in the Atlantis Luxury Resort & Casino in the Bahamas. More than a year after the mystery pro took the high stakes cash games by storm, 20-year-old Swedish pro Viktor Blom has at last been outted as Isildur1.
To mark the occasion, Blom took to the felt for a heads up match against another member of Team PokerStars Pro, Bertrand ‘Elky’ Grospellier. The pair played 100 hands of NLHE at $50-$100 sitting behind $10K stacks with unlimited reloads, and Blom finished ahead.
This puts an end to what was probably the worst kept secret in poker, as all signs and pros pointed to Isildur1 being Blom. One of the most maniacal and feared players online, by the age 18 Blom was hitting the .50/$1 games for 15 hours a day. ”I deposited $2,000 and within three weeks I had two million,” said Blom in the PokerStars blog. From there Isildur1 moved up to the big games, where he has participated in many of the biggest pots in online poker history in the process.
Blom could have remained a mystery, if not for the decision to join PokerStars. “They do things right,” said Blom of his new sponsor. With the PCA cranking up and the entire poker world focusing on the Bahamas, Blom stated that, “It felt like the right time.”
Blom just wrapped up his second SuperStar Showdown on PokerStars. The Showdowns consist of four tables of heads-up for 2,500 hands, or a $150,000 stop/loss. The first match saw Isildur1 fall to Isaac Haxton, while the Swede made up for the loss in the second Showdown, where he topped Tony G for $44,000.

He should’ve remained a mystery! I hope it doesn’t kill his action.
I heard now that he’s been identified his government is coming after him for a bunch of back taxes (~$150 million).. can anyone shed some light on this? it would be interesting to find out the facts rather than just rumors..
Wow that would really suck, those Scandinavian citizens really take a beating when it comes to this game… which is probably why that’s where the best players in the world come from.
