Zi “Urindanger” Dang, although being absent at the nosebleed stakes for a lot of 2010, spent most of his Thanksgiving Day being thankful for poker. The older Dang brother raked in over $514K at the tables, with most of his half-million coming from Team Full Tilt member Gus Hansen.
Dang and Hansen played $500/$1000 Cap Pot-Limit Omaha heads-up for several hours, with Dang dominating Hansen for most of the contest. Although Hansen had his moments during the match, it was pretty much all Urindanger from the start. As most are aware, despite Hansen being an established high-stakes player, many of his peers would agree that he’s the reason that many of the nosebleed games are running lately. Nearly all of the high-stakes players are taking advantage of this, and Zi Dang was no different, with $400K of his earnings for the night coming from Hansen.
Although Hansen has been slowly turning around his year after being down over $3 million, he’s hit a few roadblocks recently on his road to recovery. After almost closing his deficit to under $1 million, Hansen is now around $1.5 million in the red.
Despite the Dang’s focus on heads-up play with Hansen, the online poker pro also managed to eek out $114K from $200/$400 Pot-Limit Omaha, and $200/$400 PLO with a cap.
These two players weren’t the only people in action on Thanksgiving however, as Patrik Antonius has been very busy as of late increasing his earnings summary. Unfortunately for him however, it just wasn’t his night, and he ended in the red -$126K for one of the first times in a few weeks. Antonius has been busy playing the Limit Hold’Em specialist IHateJuice, and although he’s been getting the best of him recently, had the tables turned on him to the tune of six-figures.
Even though Antonius had a bad night, Hansen was the big villain with over $393K in losses. Most of which, came from his heads-up play against Urindanger. Unknown German player davin77 came in second with $274K in losses, IReadYrSoul with -$120K, and Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies with -$107K. Sahamies just hasn’t been able to get back to his winnings ways of earlier in the year.
Urindanger easily had the best Thanksgiving out of all of the online participants, but DrugsOrMe, IHateJuice, and Andreas “skjervoy” Torbergsen certainly all have lots of things to be thankful for. The finished their nights with $269K, $126K, and $101K in profits respectively.
