Last night I decided to play the $5-$10 cash game at Wynn. I walk in and sit in the must move game, nothing exciting, kinda bored actually. I play for about half hour and get moved to the main game, wasn’t sure how I felt about it cause I didn’t see much action at first. So I am trying to decide whether I should pick up and head over to Rio where I’m sure I will find action (cause of the WSOP) or stick it out at Wynn and see if the game picks up, maybe we can get some weak or action players in our game. About 20 minutes in we have a bit of a line up change so I decide to see where this goes. Four new players come in, a couple of them have the look of gamble in their eyes. Right away we start to get some big pots going and now I’m getting focused on the game to see how they’re playing. After 20 more minutes I now know that this a great game, very loose, a lot of action, 3 bets pre-flop about 60% of the time, I’m excited. I’m not really picking up much hands but I am doing o.k..
Now, about 30 more minutes have gone by and I feel comfortable with my reads on the players. I had the best seat in the game because on my right was a very weak, loose and crazy player, we’ll call him Mr. Crazy. Everybody at the table was trying to get into pots with Mr. Crazy. This guy would limp UTG with J5 off suit and 34 off suit, he would limp re-raise with AJ off suit and he had no problem bluffing all 3 streets, he would also limp call 3 bets from out of position. So here’s one of the hands I witnessed last night that was pretty disgusting.
Mr. Crazy on my right limps UTG, one more limper behind from the hijack, the button folds, The SB (a bit of a loose player) raises it up to $70, BB folds and Mr. Crazy 3 bets another $240 on top. The hijack folds then the SB calls and the flop is 9d 6c 3d. The SB checks, Mr.Crazy bets $200, SB raises to $600, Mr. Crazy shoves for $2,200 more and the SB snap calls. The two players turn their hands up, tabling AK of diamonds for the SB and AK of clubs for Mr. Crazy. I was thinking to myself, I would love to be in the SB’s seat right now, you can’t ask for better than that. SB is basically free rolling for a $6,240 pot. SB is 36.36% to win and 59.09% to tie, Mr. Crazy is 4.55% to win and 59.09% to tie. After all the money is in the middle the dealer burns and turns the turn card, 8 of clubs hits the turn. The dealer burns and turns the river, 5 of clubs hits the river and the whole table about pukes. The dealer pushes the pot to Mr. Crazy while I am saying to myself thank God I wasn’t in the SB’s seat. I guess it’s true what they say in the poker world, better to be lucky than good.
Well that’s how the cash game action has been in Vegas during the series. We get ‘em all out here , come join the action.
