“Apathy123″ Defeats Greenstein, Nails Double; $105K Win

With only two players entering this week’s $10,000 High Stakes Showdown, “Apathy123″ must’ve loved his chances at taking down the title. In less than an hour, “Apathy123″ was able to overcome “vui-qua-di” and book a sweet $10K win for his efforts. When that was over, “Apathy123″ found himself still in the running for the $5,000 Freezeout as the tournament was now three hours in. The final table featured high stakes professionals Barry “barryg1″ Greenstein and Daniel “KidPoker” Negreanu. Negreanu made a solid run at the title after losing most of his stack during the first few hands of action, but he was unable to pull it off as he settled for a 5th place finish.

Down to three-handed, “Tulkaz” brought up the possibility of a deal to be discussed, but “Apathy123″ turned it down as he preferred to reserve the deal-talk after it was down to heads-up action. Naturally, “Tulkaz” would be eliminated in 3rd place and that would setup what turned out to be a historic battle between “Apathy123″ and Greenstein. After turning down his opponent’s offer to make a deal, Greenstein would put up a great fight. They would go at it for two hours with both players holding a significant lead over the other several times. In the end, “Apathy123″ managed to pull it off as he took down the $100,000 winner-take-all freezeout.

It was only two weeks ago that Dario Minieri pulled off the big Showdown/Freezeout double. Now “Apathy123″ had attained this impressive achievement. Add the $10K win in the showdown to his $95K profit for the freezeout and “Apathy123″ had picked up a sweet $105K in winnings during the Sunday afternoon.
