The World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) put on by PokerStars is making the art of online poker a force to be reckoned with. Online this is the largest poker tournament being held. It’s numbers are right up there in competing against the biggest off line tournaments.
This year’s championship was held for the 2007 WCOOP there were 23 events and guaranteed $15,000,000 ended up awarding $24,218,600 in prizes. The prize was two-fold; each event had a minimum guaranteed prize pool with the grand total guaranteed prize pool being $15,000,000. The second was the WOOP bracelet that was awarded to the winner of each event. The tournament had a spectacular turnout with 40,280 players from 107 countries were represented and 17,253 players from 74 of those countries cashed out.
