After the first full day at the PokerStars European Poker Tour in London, Nicholas Levi comes out as the chip lead with more than 100,000 in chips. This event is being touted as the biggest event in the U.K. and there are some big names that have come out to claim this big prize pool.There were 215 players that began this event. Each player bought in for £5,200 (about $10,500) and are trying to grab their piece if the over £2 million prize pool. Approximately 145 players will start day 2.
Several well-known professional players will go on to compete in the second days event such as, Daniel Negreanu, Patrik Antonius, Irish Poker Open co-founder, Liam Flood, Marc Goodwin, and 2003 World Series of Poker champion, Chris Moneymaker (currently third on the leader board).
Liz Lieu is still in the running, but has her work is cut out for her with only about 10,000 in chips.
Some of the notable poker names did not fair as well. Finland’s Juha Helppi, winner of the season one WPT Aruba Poker Classic, was out early as his pocket aces were outdrawn by pocket queens.
WSOP bracelet winner Ram Vaswani commented on how you need a little luck to win a big event as he is also on the rail watchong, “I was in every pot, I didn’t win any of them.”
Day 2 will start tomorrow with the remaining players first being seated at the felt simultaneously
