Thrilling Hand In “Ridiculous Game”

Although they weren’t at the highest of stakes, there sure were a number of exciting hands played during a $25/50 PLO game on FullTilt yesterday evening. Being a game that is not usually played with a Pot-Limit betting structure, fellow Full Tilt Team member Jeff Madsen stated himself he considered it to be “such a ridiculous game.” And it only makes sense that ridiulous games generate ridiculous hands. One hand that stood out included a popular player with the railbirds in none other than Mike “The Mouth” Matusow.

On the rail supporting Matusow was fellow Full Tilt Team member Roland de Wolfe. The hand looked to be quite ordinary after Matusow raised the pot under-the-gun to $175. After two callers, “alans nutz” decided to reraise the pot to $975 out of the small blind. This presuaded a cold-call by “HakAllah” from the big blind. Sitting on a hand of Ad-Ts-As-7c, Matusow pushed all-in for just over $3800.

After two folds, the small blind called Matusow’s all-in as did the player in the big blind. The flop came 6c-Jh-8d. With the main pot at over $11,700, alans nutz pushed all-in for just over $3100 and was called by HakAllah. The hands were revealed and alans nutz showed Kc-2s-5c-Kd for a pair of Kings and drawing to a 5-lo. HakAllah’s hand showed 2d-Ah-2c-3h for a pair of Deuces and the nut-lo draw. Matusow’s Aces retained the lead and he also flopped a gutshot straight draw.

The 4c on the turn gave alans nutz an 8-6-5-lo and a club flush draw with a gutshot straight draw. But it also gave HakAllah the nut-lo for a guaranteed half of the pot because of his A-3 redraw. The uneventful 8s on the river sealed it for Matusow’s Aces and HakAllah’s nut-lo. Both Matusow and HakAllah were able to profit from alans nutz questionable play as they shared the main pot while alans nutz lost over $3800 on the hand.
