Big High Stakes Poker Moments Part 1

September 28, 2006 | 2 Comments

Hello everyone, here’s an article I wrote. Hopefully everyone enjoy reading it.High Stakes Poker Moments:

It’s not allowed for the regular people to head into the Bellagio casino in Las Vegas and follow when the best players in the world competing in the “Bobby’s room”. This room runs the biggest games in the world with limits going up to $4000/$8000. However after internet came into the picture, we, the regular people have had an excellent chance to follow the “high rollers” playing for high stakes. And the best part of it, we can follow it through our own computers, at home. In the past few months we’ve witnessed a lot of cash moving in the biggest tables over the internet. Now it’s time to remind everyone of what has happened.

(picture from www.bluffmagazine.com)

We’re going to start our story from the Prima-network HU $200/$400 NL game between Patrik Antonius A.K.A. “I_KnockOut_U” vs. Prahlad Friedman A.K.A. “Zweig” which took place in 11/14/2005. Beforehand Prahlad, the most succesful online player to date, had abused Patrik’s style of play as it will never work against players like himself. When the HU match was set to start, over 680 eyepairs were watching it. Nevertheless it so happened that Patrik basically “won” the match, winning about $275,000 from Prahlad in one night, earned his respect among the other high stakes players.

vs.

Second HU battle that we’re about to look into was played on OnGame-network, the competitors were Daniel Negreanu A.K.A. “TheKidPoker” vs. Patrik Antonius A.K.A. “AllTheWomen”. These guys actually played a few times, Daniel trying to hang on there with intentions to develop his game, as Patrik just tried to win as much money as he could. First couple of sessions Daniel managed to keep it even, but then he openly told how things were going in his blog: “The online poker thing has gone very badly for me recently. Patrick Antonius, one of the very best, has been absolutely crushing me. He is clearly a better player than I am…”. This was when he was down about $150,000. But it was clear to see that Patrik was the better player online, so when he got on the rush, Daniel couldn’t stop him: “When I got back home I played XWA for a short while and took a small win, before losing another $30,000 to AllTheWomen again. He has beaten me for $200K+ straight, and during that rush I have not, at any point, won $30,000 straight!”. That being likely the last game they ever played, Patrik was up about $220,000. During those games Daniel made a challenging comment, saying that he might lose online, but live is a whole different situation. Patrik responded to this by saying that it’s fine to him, he’s actually better when he plays live. But that’s another story then.. ————————————————-

Second part will be here soon, it’s a bit longer.

High Stakes Poker - Fast Freddie signs with Purple Lounge Poker!

September 20, 2006 | Leave a Comment

Cash game superstar Fast Freddie has finally signed a sponsorship deal with PurpleLounge.com - one of Prima-network’s finest poker rooms.

Freddie’s comments were simple:

“I think Purple Lounge is a good choice for me because they take care of their players inside & outside of the table”.

Due to Fast Freddie’s profile in high stakes poker games, this deal is obviously a great one for both parties. We wish them good luck!

Purple Lounge offers you a great $1000 match deposit bonus, here’s a line from the site:

“Make a first deposit into your Purple Lounge account and for every 20 raked hands that you play you will receive a $1 bonus. This bonus can be accrued to match 100% of the your first deposit, up to a massive $1000!! Simply sit down and play at any $1-$2 or higher stake tables.”

Purple Lounge has been created in 2006.

High Stakes Poker - bad_ip vs. WildmanX

September 20, 2006 | 5 Comments

Finally we witnessed some No-Limit HU high stakes poker on Prima. It was Johnny Lodden (bad_ip) versus a player named “WildmanX”. Observers talked about this player being Phil Ivey or Sammy Farha - I highly doubt that.

Anyway, it looked like a good and entertaining game but WildmanX ran away after a big pot, here are some screenshots and hand histories. I couldn’t get a hand history to this first hand cause of I just came to the table, so here ya go:

Well it wasn’t over yet… Fast_Freddie came and bought in for $4,500. He lost that first, he bought in for another $4,500 and the high stakes poker game was on. He actually end up having about $40,000. Then he let bad_ip know that he’s about to leave, and after a little time he left. Johnny Lodden didn’t like that:

bad_ip> BURN IN HELL ASSHOOLE

Fast_Freddie came back, he had seen what Johnny said, so:

Fast_Freddie> I think u should tell that to my face next time we meet
Fast_Freddie> if you have anything to say
Fast_Freddie> say it
bad_ip> leave
Fast_Freddie> you are a chicken head
Fast_Freddie> You are so lame you dont even look me in the eye when we meet Fast_Freddie> Enough talking, we can settle this next time i see u

They talked a lot of more but I didn’t catch it.

Anyway finally I could made a proper report, hopefully more soon. Good luck everyone!

Questions?

September 17, 2006 | 8 Comments

Hello all,

No big things going on in the high stakes games. Erik123 won like $100,000-$150,000 yesterday and Patrik Antonius is now about $160,000 up. Matusow said he’s going to have 2 books and 1 movie coming out. At least that’s what he said on Full Tilt chat, maybe being a little drunk.
I’ve had few questions here, first of all, who is TEXASLIMITKING?

Many people are messaging me telling me he’s a young swedish player. Some are even telling me that I’m stupid for not knowing. Well, then other people message me and tell me he’s Dustin “neverwin” Woolf. I really don’t know what is true right now, and I’m sure nobody knows that 100%. I promise you guys, I will try to find that out.

Other question is, who is UltimateButt? I’ve heard 2 pros to say he’s Phil Hellmuth, which might be a joke also. Other people are saying he’s UltimateBet’s “WeToddDiD”. This is another thing I will try to find out.

Congratulations Johnny Lodden, for placing 14. in the EPT Barcelona event.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I will answer as fast as I can. We got something new going on but things are kinda slow now cause of all those things going on in the poker world. But you’ll see!

Nothing big going on

September 14, 2006 | 9 Comments

I’ve been trying to find some games which I could do a report on, but there’s simply no interesting games going on.

Full Tilt has those pros there all the time but there hasn’t been any big wins, although Mike Matusow is losing right now a lot, that’s why Patrik Antonius says this when someone asked him about what a “million dollar chip” looks like:

“Luigi66369: million dollar chip is a face of Mike Matusow ;)”

Erik123 has been in a good playing mood lately, I’m not accurate of how much he has won but it’s probably $200,000-$300,000. We will start to track these winnings soon. I just actually saw Phil Ivey dumping $80,000 to Erik123, so his good run continues, while Ivey proves not to be one of the top players in the internet world.

John D’Agostino been winning in the limit games like usually. Seriously, you can’t see him on table without a stack under $100,000. It’s just impossible.

“Who is TexasLimitKing”, that’s what I’m still wondering… but I found out that Full Tilt’s player named “ultimate butt” would be Phil Hellmuth! That’s huge!

Also expect even less games because of EPT is in Barcelona right now, and a lot players are there (at least Johnny Lodden is what has been confirmed, but there must be more).

I’m following the big game on Full Tilt right now, there’s Chip Reese, Erik123, cmynuts and CALCOT on $200/$400 Pot-Limit Omaha table right now, if anything special happens, I’ll let you know.

Patrik Antonius - The Full Tilt Show

September 10, 2006 | Leave a Comment

PokerPages.com

Picture from: PokerPages.com

I’ve been doing a lot of “Patrik Antonius” reports lately, and here’s one more. I mean, he’s just crazy, and seems like there isn’t a single person who can play better than him. He has won from Matusow, Hansen, Ivey, Benyamine, Erik123, basically from everyone. Last night he left the tables being up about $300,000. He won $110,000 from ballsrider in $300/$600 No-Limit game, and the rest in short-handed Pot-Limit Omaha.

He also decided to bring an effective amount of cash to the table. Here’s a screenshot:

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

Someone also asked him about how fast his new Aston Martin goes on the highway. Patrik’s response was simple: “FAST!!!”. Patrik has been also broke on B2B-network since he withdrawed a lot of cash from there, well yesterday he asked Erik123 to transfer him $100,000 in there so I guess we’ll see him on B2B soon.

I got nothing more to say, good luck everyone!

High Stakes Poker - Fast_Freddie’s challenge

September 9, 2006 | 1 Comment

Today on Prima, Fast_Freddie challenged bad_ip to a $1,000,000 heads-up freezeout tournament in Barcelona. Sadly bad_ip’s answer was “no” - this would have been a great battle.

Fast_Freddie and bad_ip actually played against each other today, bad_ip won about $160,000. Soon after that Zweig came, and Freddie took about $40,000-$50,000 from him. A while after that Zweig sat down into bad_ip’s table, losing a quick $30,000 and leaving without saying a word.

After all it has (again) been pretty quiet, hopefully more games tonight. Later!

High Stakes Poker - Full Tilt with $500/$1000 NL & PL tables

September 8, 2006 | 1 Comment

Wow, Full Tilt just created $500/$1000 NL Hold’em and PL Omaha tables, with a cap though that works with likes this:

- No player can bet more than $30,000 in one hand.

- As soon as player all the players have reached the limit, they’re considered being all-in.

Here’s the e-mail Full Tilt sent about it:

“Full Tilt Cap Games… When top pros like Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer and Jennifer Harman get together for poker, they want to make it fun. So, two of the games they like to play are CAP NO-LIMIT and CAP POT-LIMIT.

Now, you too can play these exciting games exclusively at Full Tilt Poker. Cap games are played just like regular No-Limit and Pot-Limit games, but the maximum you can bet in any one hand is capped.

1 - Let’s say you’re playing a $1/$2 No-Limit game with a $60 cap and Phil Ivey raises to $6 from early position. The action reaches you, and you have a few choices - you can fold, call raise or go all-in up to the cap of $60.

2 - So once the pot is capped at any time during a hand, you are considered “all-in” and can’t risk any more of your chips.

3 - The Pros love Cap No-Limit and Cap Pot-Limit because they let them play in many more pots without the threat that a single bad beat will put them on the rail. Play Cap Games today at Full Tilt Poker, the only place where you can enjoy these fast-paced, thrilling games.”

Hopefully we will have some great games in the future.

—————————–

It has been really quiet for the last few days in the online poker world. I’ve received questions of who is “TexasLimitKing” on Full Tilt. The answer is, I don’t know. I’m trying to find out though, but I don’t know. He is usually winning at $500/$1000 Hold’em, like today:

TexasLimitKing.JPG

—————————–

What else… oh, against Zweig is not a nice person. He had today a little argument with bad_ip too, after he lost $30,000 on $100/$200 NL table:

Zweig> you win both ways
Zweig> nice
Zweig> win JJ beat JJ
Zweig> fun to run well
bad_ip> cry both way
Zweig> dude fk u
Zweig> a hole
Zweig> all i said is win both ways
bad_ip> gonna
Zweig> didnt say anything else
Zweig> you are a fking dck
