When smarx and looseslots first sat down at the $200/$400 PL omaha table heads up at Full Tilt Poker, I knew I was in for a treat. Looseslots is known to be a loose gambler in the high stakes poker world. They both bought in for roughly $25,000 to start off , at the $40,000 max tables.
Right off the bat, smarx dominated. I mean he DOMINATED. After 10 minutes, the stacks were
Smarx: $50k
Looseslots: $0
Looseslots then rebuys for $20k and loses that in about 20 minutes. Again, smarx is inside of looseslots head at this point. I never saw smarx lose a big pot at this point in the game. The stacks now look like this :
Smarx: $70k
Looseslots: $0
Looseslots immediately rebuys for $40k and now it’s on. While Looseslots rebuys again, he loses a $40k pot to Phil Ivey on the $100/$200 nl table. Try not to bluff Phil Ivey, it’s one of the best poker lessons you’ll ever learn.
Then in comes Phil Ivey to the $200/$400 table and you know smarx is thinking “WHY!” when he is literally smoking looseslots who is playing too many tables at once to be playing heads up with a sharp Steven Marx. As soon as Phil Ivey sits down, however, Looseslots continues to tilt and Smarx reaches 130k!
Ivey does very well at first, however, after a while he starts to lose to smarx and Looseslots. Eventually Ivey says goodnight after going bust, but then he just continues to play anyways (happens to the best of us!) . At this point another player sits down with 20k and loses it FAST to looseslots. Although looseslots takes a bad beating at first, he does manage to work his way up to past $100k again. All the while , smarx is still raking it in off phil ivey, looseslots and anyone else willing to sit in the game.
When the game is all said and done 7 hours later smarx says “You won’t be mad if I go to sleep will you?”. They stop playing.
Final Chip counts:
Smarx: $201,700
Looseslots: $106,000
Congratulations to Steven Marx, and for looseslots still a respectable comeback considering how he started off.
